Luxury Sumba 8D7N Package: Four Regions, Two Airports

The luxury Sumba 8D7N package is Indonesia Juara Trip’s longest Sumba product: eight days, seven nights, arriving Tambolaka (TMC) and departing Waingapu (WGP). Five nights at one luxury resort in West or Southwest Sumba, two nights in East Sumba, all four regions, two full rest days. Land-only price on request; the resort is quoted separately.

Why is 8D7N the only Sumba length that does not squeeze the rest?

Sumba is larger than Bali and its roads are slower. A 4D3N or 5D4N stays on one side of the island; a 6D5N can cross, but only by giving up a resort night. Eight days changes the arithmetic. Two things fit that never fit before:

  • A two-airport route. Fly Bali (DPS) to TMC, a daily domestic flight of roughly 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, and fly home from WGP in the east. No back-tracking on the last morning.
  • A Pasola week. Pasola, the mounted spear ritual of Kodi, Lamboya and Wanokaka, runs in February and March on dates the Rato (traditional priests) confirm only weeks ahead, after the nyale sea-worm sighting. The 8D7N holds a floating day for it without cancelling anything else.

On every shorter length, one of those ambitions eats the rest days. On 8D7N both fit and two rest days remain.

What does the 8D7N day-by-day look like, drive against stay?

Indonesia Juara Trip adjusts this shape around flight patterns, resort availability and, in February and March, the Pasola calendar. Drive times are indicative and shorter when your resort sits in the regency being toured.

Which resort ladder fits which budget on an 8D7N?

The resorts below are accommodation options, not partners. Availability is subject to confirmation and every rate is indicative as of 2026, subject to change. East Sumba nights use the best available Waingapu hotel on your dates, confirmed on quote.

TierWest/Southwest base, 5 nightsIndicative published rate, 2026Who it suits

Two hero-tier details. Nihi’s 2025-2026 experiences are quoted in IDR on top of the villa rate, from “Sunrise Splash” at IDR 8,000,000 per person to “Sumba Quest” at IDR 20,000,000. And the Nihi transfer from TMC runs around 60-90 minutes; Cap Karoso states about 50 minutes, Lelewatu about 63 km, indicative 1-1.5 hours.

What does the 8D7N cost, and what is quoted on request?

Indonesia Juara Trip publishes a land-only ladder for the shorter lengths on the Sumba trip cost page. The 8D7N is quoted individually because the crossing, the second airport and the Pasola variable change the car and guide days.

DurationLand-only per person, as of 2026Route shape
4D3NUSD 390 / 490 / 570One side of the island
5D4NUSD 459 / 700 / 850One side, one rest day
6D5NUSD 570 / 1,020One side, or a tight crossing
7D6NOn requestCrossing, one rest day
8D7NOn requestCrossing, two rest days, two airports

Every figure is land-only, resort not included, subject to change. Land-only covers the touring side: private car and driver, guide, both airport transfers and village host arrangements, itemised on your quote. The resort is a separate line; no combined total is printed until the resort confirms your dates. For calibration, a 2026 guide cites a private car and driver on Sumba at about USD 60-90 per day, luxury-tier touring cars about USD 120-180.

Which months suit an 8D7N, month by month?

Nihi’s published 2026 seasons are the cleanest calendar for the whole island, because demand at the hero resort moves demand everywhere else. Green season runs 12 January to 31 March; high 1 April to 30 June, 1 September to 31 October and 21 to 28 December; peak 1 July to 31 August and 29 December 2026 to 7 January 2027.

Adat village visits assume a licensed local host, set photography hours and drone restrictions; the team briefs every guest before day 2. A per-stay conservation pass of IDR 150,000-300,000 per person was circulating as a 2027 proposal in mid-2026. It is a proposal, not law.

How does booking the 8D7N work?

  1. Send a brief on WhatsApp. Month or dates, party size, resort tier, whether Pasola or the two-airport route matters, any mobility limits.
  2. Availability check. Indonesia Juara Trip holds a resort option, checks the DPS-TMC and WGP-DPS flight pattern for your dates (schedules change), and confirms guide and car.
  3. Two-line quote. One line land-only, one line resort, each dated. No combined total until both confirm.
  4. Deposit and written confirmation from the reservations team with the final day-by-day and resort reference.
  5. Pre-trip file. Village etiquette, driver and guide contacts, and the Pasola update for February or March travel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the luxury Sumba 8D7N package be timed to Pasola week?

Yes, and it is the only length where that works without losing rest days. Pasola runs in February and March in Kodi, Lamboya and Wanokaka, with dates fixed by the Rato weeks ahead. Day 5 is held as a floating day; if the ritual lands elsewhere in your week, Indonesia Juara Trip swaps it with a rest day, not a touring day.

Do I fly out of a different airport than I arrive on the 8D7N?

In the standard version, yes: arrive Tambolaka (TMC) in the west, depart Umbu Mehang Kunda, Waingapu (WGP) in the east. Both connect to Bali on domestic flights, and the reverse works too. Indonesia Juara Trip checks the flight pattern for your exact dates before quoting, because schedules change through the year and nothing here is fixed.

How many rest days does the 8D7N Sumba itinerary actually include?

Two full days with no vehicle booked, days 3 and 5, both inside the resort week. Days 2, 4 and 7 are touring days of two to five hours on the road; day 6 is the crossing. Compare the 6D5N, where a crossing leaves one rest day at most, and the 5D4N, which has one.

Can I split the seven nights between Nihi and a second resort?

Yes. The common split is three nights at Nihi Sumba in Wanokaka and two at Lelewatu or Cap Karoso, then two in Waingapu. It adds a packing morning and one extra transfer inside West Sumba. Some resort offers carry minimum-night rules (Cap Karoso’s 2026 deals, for instance, require three nights), so the team confirms open nights first.
